Step 1 - WHAT ARE THE BANTAM AND MIDGET TRYOUTS?
In March, Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association will conduct tryouts to
select players to compete in the WAHA Bantam and Midget Festivals. There
are eight geographical tryouts for bantams and seven geographical tryouts
for midgets. State festivals provide a great opportunity for a player to
develop as one of the best players in the state and also be identified in
Wisconsin Select Camps and USA Hockey Central District Festivals/Camps,
which can ultimately lead to a spot at the USA Hockey National Summer
Development Camps. See step 2 for more details on WAHA festivals.
There are four (4) separate WAHA Festivals by birth year:
1996 Bantam Minor
1995 Bantam Major
1994 Midget Minor
1993 Midget Major

Participants registering must have a 2009-10 USA Hockey membership number
or must register for one through USA Hockey at a fee of $40. Go to

Bantams will tryout from 6:00–8:00 pm with 1995 & 1996 birth year players
trying out together

Midgets will tryout from 8:00–10:00 pm with 1993 & 1994 birth year players
trying out together
·
Registration for each tryout location will be limited by position
·
Skaters must tryout for the
position (D or F) they register for-No exceptions
·
Players will be selected from the tryouts to participate in the festivals
·
Those selected for the WAHA Festivals will be contacted by email after the
final tryout for their level. Midgets will be notified on March 20 and
bantams will be notified on March 23. Online registration for the
respective festivals (at wahahockey.com) must occur immediately upon
notification.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOALTENDER ONLY TRYOUTS, HOW DO I REGISTER
AND WHEN?
There are five (5) goalie–only tryouts for players born in 1993-96.

All goalie tryouts take place before the skater tryouts

Goalie tryouts will be from 6:00-7:30 pm for 1995 & 1996 born players
(both birth years will be combined for the tryout).

Goalie tryouts will be from 7:45-9:15 pm for 1993 & 1994 born players
(both birth years will be combined for the tryout)

Registration numbers at each of the five (5) tryout locations will be
limited
·
When the last tryout is over, goalies will be selected and assigned to
each of the eight bantam skater tryouts and each of the seven midget
skater tryouts. A total of 24-32 bantam goalies and 21-28 midget goalies
will be selected to participate in the skater tryouts.

Notifications will be by email.
·
Selected goalies must register for their assigned skater tryout using
online registration at
www.wahahockey.com. The fee is
$40 for goalies only.
Players are selected for each of the four festival teams by birth year.
Player drafts have been scheduled for the evening of March 19th
for the midgets and the evening of March 22nd for the bantams.
Within 24 hours of the draft, each player will receive an email from WAHA
with instructions to complete their online registration/payment at
www.wahahockey.com and thus accepting to play in the WAHA
Bantam or Midget Festival. After online registration is complete, player’s
names will be posted on the website with group reporting times. All
festivals will use a three game round robin format. The cost to
participate in the WAHA Bantam or Midget Festivals is $125.
Player families should reserve
hotel lodging for the festival as soon as possible. Note that midget
players will be notified on March 20th and the festival is on
March 27-28. Players will receive and keep their jersey and socks.
Players will move on from the festivals to the USA Hockey Central District
Festival and or summer camps. See step 3 for more details on camps and
central district festivals.
BANTAMS
There are two separate WAHA Bantams Festivals: one for skaters born in
1996 and one for skaters born in 1995.
Each birth year festival will feature sixty eight players or 4
teams of 17 players (2 goalies, 6 defenseman, and 9 forwards). One hundred
thirty six players (68 are born in 1995 and 68 are born in 1996) will be
drafted on the evening of March 22 from the total number of players that
participated in the bantam skater tryouts. WAHA will notify players
selected by email. Once all of the players have completed their online
festival registration/payment, the player names will be posted on
www.wahahockey.com. Player families should obtain lodging as
soon as possible. Note that there are no festival activities Friday
evening. Both bantam birth year festivals will be held at the
MIDGETS
There are separate WAHA Midgets Festivals: one for skaters born in 1993
and one for skaters born in 1994. Each birth year festival will include
four teams of 17 players (2 goalies, 6 defenseman, and 9 forwards). One
hundred thirty six players (68 born in 1993 and 68 born in 1994) will be
drafted on the evening of March 19 from the total players that
participated in the midget tryouts. WAHA will notify the players selected
by email. Once all of the players have completed their online festival
payment, the player’s names will be posted on

Central District Festival in

Approximately twenty eight (28)
players (4 goalies, 9 defenseman, and 15 forwards) will be selected from
the WAHA 1996 birth year festival on April 17-18 at
WAHA SELECT 15 HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMP AT
New this year, WAHA will have a high performance camp for 15 year olds
(birth year 1995) at
Step 4 – WHAT IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO THE USA HOCKEY NATIONAL SELECT 14,
15, 16 or 17 SUMMER CAMPS AT ROCHESTER, NY?
The names of the players selected to participate in the USA Hockey
National Summer Development Camps will be posted on
www.wahahockey.com and
www.AHAI.com following the USA
Hockey Central District Festival at

USA Hockey will handle all the communication with the players.
