“With Brookley’s personality, work ethic, and quest for excellence she has a bright future ahead of her and will go as far as she wants in any discipline. I know she
would be an excellent candidate for your scholarship.” ~ Matthew E. Marten, Teacher/Soccer Coach
“Sliding into the corner on my back with my stick tangled in my jersey, a smile had already spread across my face. I was seven years old and I had just scored my first goal as a Mite. I glowed as I clumsily made my way back to the bench, nearly losing my balance with every high-five I received from my teammates. As I sat on the bench reflecting on my shining moment which, looking back on it, was by no means spectacular, I decided right there that I was hooked. I loved to play hockey. I still get that excitement every time I step on the ice and it is that motivation that has kept me going for the past 10 years. In my
hockey career I have done more than I could have ever hoped for. I have seen everything from the grand Times Square of New York City to the great plains of North Dakota to the hay-covered barn rinks of the Upper Peninsula. I have stood in awe in the lobby at the national championships and became speechless as each Olympic player passed by. I have seen best friends come and leave the program, and I have learned to treasure the lifelong friendships that I have developed. And, most importantly, I have grown to be a better person through my experiences. It is these experiences and what I have taken away from them that make my what I am today.” ~ quote from Brookley’s letter
Brookley has been accepted to play hockey at
Yale and soccer at Purdue, though not an easy decision, she will be attending Purdue this fall. Pre-Med major.
